Over the past 16 years, Valerie has owned and operated a small, seasonal custom ice cream shop in two locations as well as several Vacation Rental Homes in New York. As a result, she knows firsthand the challenges of running a small business and the bookkeeping and paperwork that go along with it. Prior to being self-employed, she worked in the accounting and finance industry for 30 years for a small manufacturing firm, a VA hospital, the Department of Social Services, and a local CPA. More recently, Valerie has assisted several small businesses in Florida to get their books set up properly and their records up to date.
Valerie currently resides in sunny Ocala, Florida, known as the “Horse Capital of the World.” She and her husband, Dan, live on a small horse farm and help manage the horses, horse barn and property while the owner is away. Originally from upstate New York, Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame, the Hitts relocated to warmer weather five years ago but still spend much of the summer in New York. When Valerie isn’t helping businesses with their bookkeeping or taking care of horses, she enjoys tennis, bike riding, coloring, and visiting with her grandchildren.
